1908, and while Ford launches the first mass production motor car the Olympic Games comes to London. In the same year Morris Cooper creates workwear production company, M. Cooper overalls Ltd.

A tailor by trade, and initially producing durable yet versatile clothing for South Africa and then solely the UK from workshops in London's East End, Morris is soon employing over 600 people.

By 1914 Mo decides on a switch to manufacturing battle fatigues. Still and for some time yet to come, jeans are strictly for workmen. The company however, will become the very first to market 'denims' in the UK

The business expands during 1937 in to a new factory in Stratford, East London although shortly after, due to a reputation for high quality, the Second World War sees the company requisitioned by the British armed forces to manufacture its uniforms.

Not until 1946 does Harold Cooper lead his dad's company toward a vision for denim as highly desirable casual wear. Albeit boosted in the earlier days by post war clothing rations- jeans are 1 coupon where as a suit is 26- within 2 years the business is at the forefront of Denim supplied to the UK.

From 'workwear' to 'mustwear' and now named Lee Cooper the brand develops an international following firstly in Holland, followed closely by France and then throughout the rest of the world, continually innovating fashion product design and pioneering in music, sport or entertainment sponsorships from its UK head quarters.

Lee Cooper has had a passion for denim design ever since it began. From the public outcry over its 'front zip' ladies jeans launched in the 50's, to coloured jeans that saw out the same decade, from Tartan slacks and Bell bottomed hipsters of the 60's to the checked pants and colourful corduroys of the 70's the brand has produced original cuts for men and women.

Always on top of trends and technology, during the 80's styling ranged from skin tight to so called' jogging jeans' complete with drawstring. Jeans were produced with holes in them, in stretch fabric and in acid washes before giving way to introductions of the first slack/jean and ring spun denim of the 90's.

Founded in 1908, Lee Cooper is the oldest jeans company in Europe. Now, we have plundered an internationally enviable archive of products and added contemporary twists to an Authentic collection for men and women which combines classics with quality.

Each piece is influenced by gloriously seductive moment from Lee Cooper's past or by an iconic period of denim history, either evident in bespoke detailing or in internal prints and furniture, whilst the Authentics branding signatures the revival of the original Lee Cooper logo.
